      Assistant Technical Manager

      £38,000 - £40,000 Location: Berkshire Product: Bakery Ref: 8618

      The purpose of your role will be to support in driving continuous improvement and providing guidance to teams on site with adherence to relevant standards, policies, legislation, and regulations.

      Key tasks

      • Accurately complete customer forms, QAS and specifications, and maintain company’s product & packaging specifications and labelling systems and gather data relating to packaging waste regulations.
      • Provide support, mentor, and develop the Food Technologists as well as deputising for the Technical Manager when necessary.
      • Support the successful completion of customer and third-party audits and visits as well as perform food safety system and GMP audits, adhering to the audit schedule, distribute the results and ensure the closure of actions raised.
      • Participate in the investigation of complaints, food safety close calls and trends ensuring effective preventive measures are put in place, and lead and participate in root cause investigation when incidents or trends appear.
      • Conduct relevant quality management training procedures and subjects linked to food safety and quality culture as appropriate.
      • Assist with preparing samples according to testing schedules.
      • Challenge hygiene practices and standards with the aim of reducing food safety incidences and proactively support initiatives to improve product safety, quality and culture at group and site level.

      About You

      The successful candidate should have a proven background of writing specifications within food manufacturing and possess a good knowledge of industry standards.

      • It is essential that the successful candidate can demonstrate a good knowledge of the tasks involved with this job role and be proficient in writing specifications.
      • Ideally educated to degree level with a food science relevant degree.
      • Have excellent communication skills at all levels both written and verbal.
      • Good working knowledge of Microsoft office and other relevant programs.
      • Leadership qualities and a personable nature.

      The Assistant Technical Manager job is based in Maidenhead and is paying £38,000 - £40,000 according to your experience.

      The working hours are Monday to Friday office hours.
