About the Buyer job

The purpose of your role will be to manage all day-to-day buying activities, develop strong relationships with sustainable suppliers and negotiating the best prices for the business ensuring product quality is achieved and maintained.

Key tasks

• Develop key relationships with business stakeholders and strategic supply partners and to represent purchasing team at business meetings and work jointly on capital reduction projects such as extending terms, reducing stock held on site both slow moving and redundant.
• Develop procurement category strategies for allocated areas of spend as well as the delivery agreed PIPS in budget & identify areas to deliver value from allocated categories.
• Implement procurement strategies to maintain security of supply and support business needs and through joint improvement plans and cross functional quarterly reviews ensure the very best is gained from key suppliers.
• Forecast price & market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer/ supplier power as well as tracking and reporting key functional metrics to reduce costs & improve effectiveness.
• Promote & bring supplier innovation to wider business as well as negotiating contracts with suppliers taking into consideration total cost and service.
• Follow escalation process to highlight any risk to planned production or customer service going forward and manage vendor performance through vendor rating and act on poor performance.

About You

The successful candidate shall possess manufacturing industry experience relating to direct spend raw materials & packaging purchasing and demonstrate a track record of delivering in buyer level role.

• Educated to degree level and MCIPS qualified.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft programmes and experience with an MRP based system.
• Takes accountability for own workload and is a positive team player.
• Results driven focused on continuous improvement, exceptional performance in a fast paced role. 
• The candidate shall have market expertise and strong negotiation and networking communication skills.

More details

The Buyer job is based in Berkshire and is paying £40,000 - £45,000 according to your experience. One day a week hybrid.

The working hours are 9:00am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday.
