      QA Technician

      £26,000 - £28,000 Location: Somerset Product: Ambient Foods Ref: 8646

      About the QA Technician job

      The purpose of your role will be to provide support to the technical department, monitoring scheduled technical activities to ensure that they are completed in full and on time. You will generate reports/information that will enable follow up activities by the factory team plus carry out customer complaint investigations to define root cause and enable corrective action.

      Key tasks

      • Monitor production to ensure that procedures and quality systems are always followed and react to and report any out of specifications results that may affect product quality.
      • Arrange testing of product quality parameters, including label and coding checks and validation, collection and labelling of production samples for shelf life and further testing and accurate weighing of key production ingredients.
      • Ensuring that hygiene standards are observed by all staff and monitor hygiene and housekeeping standards in storage, preparation and exterior areas of the factory and site.
      • Develop and implement improvements to the site quality systems as well as collection of data to develop supplier performance monitoring systems.
      • Factory QA and QC checks on production including pH, temperatures, hygiene and allergen swabs, metal detection checks, seal integrity checks, and collection of laboratory samples.
      • Work with Technical Manager to ensure that all non-conformances are recorded and followed up with appropriate actions, as well as calibration and verification of quality testing equipment.
      • Work closely with purchasing and warehouse teams to establish and monitor quality of incoming raw materials and ingredients and communicate changes to procedures to relevant production staff. Carry out annual competency reviews and complete training on quality and safety procedures.

      About You

      The successful candidate shall have manufacturing industry experience - possibly with a supplier with major retailers if within the food sector. An excellent communicator at all levels both verbally and written and pay excellent attention to details and lead by example.

      • Food Safety and HACCP level 3 qualifications and experience of internal auditing to BRC standards is desirable but not essential.

      The QA Technician job is based in Somerset and is paying £26,000 to £28,000 according to your experience.

      The week consists of a 4-day working week and is Monday to Thursday – 7:00am to 5:00pm. The package includes 5 weeks of annual leave.
