About the Product Development Technologist job

The purpose of your role will be to make sure the company’s product development projects are delivered on time for their branded, own-label, and food service ranges. Part of your role will be exploring new ingredients and ideas, creating samples, running factory trials, and supporting products through each stage of development until they successfully launch.

Key tasks

• Create and develop products by turning ideas into real products, from kitchen concepts to full-scale launch, for UK retail, export, food service, and B2B customers, considering flavours, formats, and allergens.
• Research and innovate by exploring market trends, test new ingredients with suppliers, and contribute to long-term product development strategies.
• Keep projects on track, maintain sample and ingredient stock, prepare documentation, and ensure all internal and customer requirements are met.
• Lead packaging innovation, support food safety and audit processes, attend trials and exhibitions, and stay up to date with industry trends.

About You

• The successful candidate shall have a degree in Food Technology, Food Science or Nutrition or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as Product Development Technologist (or similar role) in FMCG food manufacturing business.
• Experience in creative ideas / concepts and bringing these to life and familiarity with conducting factory trials.

The Product Development Technologist job (ref:8941) is paying £32,000 - £35,000 according to your experience.

The site is based in Somerset and is commutable from Yeovil, Ilminster, Taunton, Shepton Mallet, Glastonbury, Bridgwater and surrounding areas.

The package includes an annual leave entitlement of 33 days (inc. bank holidays), Private Health Care Scheme, 9.75% Pension Employer Contribution, Life Assurance - x4 annual basic salary, up to 10% company bonus, retailer discounts, buying holiday scheme and enhance family friendly benefits.
‎The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm.
