About the NPD Coordinator job

The purpose of your role will be to play a key hands-on role in the creation, testing, and launch of new food products. You will provide support to the NPD team in bringing ideas from concept to supermarket shelves.

Key tasks

Create and test new food products, make samples in the development kitchen, work on recipes, and move products from ideas to small trials to full factory production, record results such as taste, texture, and shelf life to make sure the products meet quality standards.
Prepare product specifications, ingredient lists, and keep accurate records to meet safety and retailer standards. Be responsible for order of materials for trials, work with suppliers to find new ingredients and packaging, and monitor ingredient costs and availability.
Support taste tests and collect feedback to help improve products. Accurately document all findings ensuring that products continue to meet company, regulatory and customer expectations.
Work closely with teams across production, quality, and technical departments to share results and solve problems. Follow up on all food safety, hygiene, and labelling rules to ensure products are safe and compliant.

About You

The successful candidate shall have a degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a closely related discipline.
At least three years of experience in food product development with experience running individual projects from concept to launch.
You can demonstrate strong creativity and expertise in managing projects from concept to launch.
Possesses exceptional communication and presentation abilities when engaging with clients.
Brings a solid technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, ingredients, and packaging solutions, combined with a genuine enthusiasm for food, emerging trends, and ongoing innovation.

The working hours are 8:30am – 5:00pm.

The role offers some hybrid work with 1 to 2 days per week working from home.

The site is in Essex, commutable from Suffolk, Colchester, Braintree, Ipswich, Harwich, Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds.
