Laboratory Technician required for large company in the beverage sector based in the North West. The successful candidate will be responsible for routine analysis of wine and spirit samples involving a variety of methods including manual titrations, distillations, pH measurement and organoleptic assessments, calculation of additions to bulk product and micro-biological testing of wine samples.
You will also be required to ensure packaging meets defined specifications, calibration and maintenance of lab equipment and QC checks on finished products.
You will have experience of working in an accredited laboratory ideally within the drinks industry and have the ability to maintain a high level of discipline with the daily adherence to product quality and have a proven track record of working towards continuous improvement objectives.
You will have at least 2 A-Levels or equivalent, one of which must be science related. This role will involve shift work which will include weekend work. | |||||||||

Due to expansion our client is looking to recruit a Head of Food Safety and Nutrition. You will head a team of 2 Nutritionists and, under the direction of the Sales Director, you will manage their day-to-day workload whilst having considerable involvement of product formulations. You will be responsible for liaising with customers and assisting nutrition on technical negotiations, formula changes and technical statements on packaging.
You will also be responsible for the site laboratory and ensure that the appropriate amount of testing is undertaken to confirm that products are in accordance with the design. In addition you will be responsible for ensuring that tests to all incoming raw materials are undertaken.
You will have a strong background in nutrition and food safety from a food manufacturing environment, preferably in dried products. You will also have advanced formulation, laboratory and technical knowledge with experience in directing a small team.
